For this podcast I was really motivated to focus on something that inspires me every day. Recently I have been obsessed with the James Webb Space Telescope, so I thought that would be absolutely perfect. I discuss many topics around James Webb, like its nerve wracking deployment, its unconventional orbit, its extreme temperature threshold, and most importantly, how its imaging works. In the second half, I compared James Webb’s modern day capabilities to its predecessor, The Hubble. Discussing the difference between their cameras and other technologies.
I ended up using Audacity for my software, and the microphone is the default mic on the mac book pro 2017. I added two Hanz Zimmer songs, one at the beginning, and one at the end, for a dramatic space effect. Throughout the podcast there is a faint ambient underwater noise that I feel gives a great ambiance to the whole space theme, making it even more immersive. My goal was for the listening experience to feel like floating and very ambient, so I chose not to add sound effects other than my underwater noises. I almost added a quite ‘ping’ noise but I could not find exactly what I was looking for.
I am very excited with how it turned out, and I impressed myself with the finished product. I think my choice of music and noise was perfect for my subject, and I would not change a thing. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it!
