Netflix vs Hulu Website Analysis

Netflix and Hulu are some of the biggest competitors in the streaming business. They are some of the oldest mainstream platforms and the Although Netflix has always been the top dog, Hulu has a strong argument against them due to its price.

As a frequent user Netflix I do not have much to complain about. I often find my computer struggling to keep up with all the loading. The content they have is almost always what I am looking for, and it feels like a premium product over Hulu. Netflix should feel like the premium product because it is nearly twice the price of Hulu.

Price is the biggest discrepancy between the two products. Hulu is the budget product, it includes ad breaks, has less exclusive content, and in my opinion a less immersive interface. There is something about Netflix’s bright red logo that just makes me want to watch a movie, and this is something that Hulu lacks.

Netflix also seems to have a better understanding of that I want to watch. This may be due to my more frequent visits, so it has more data to pull information from, or that their algorithm is just better, or both. Whatever the case, it seems to work better for me.

In recent months and years the gap between Netflix and Hulu’s User Experience has been closing. Netflix has been going downhill, while Hulu has been going less downhill. With all of the new streaming services popping up it is getting harder and more expensive for these services to keep up with all of the competition. In 2022, Netflix has started to lose subscriptions by the hundreds of thousands, while almost every other streaming service is growing. It is clear people are diversifying their content, rather than having a one stop shop like Netflix, and with Netflix being the most expensive streaming service, it is many peoples first to cancel.
